There is a 2 hour delay on Friday, January 19th 2024 due to the inclement weather and anticipated wind chill temperatures. No morning preschool, practices and breakfast is not served.
The JH girls basketball game scheduled with North Iowa for tonight (1/18) has been cancelled.
The Belmond Klemme Board of Education meets once per month at the high school library. The process for the public to attend has changed due to to new safety/security guidelines. All who attend shall enter at the front entrance and go through the front office. Each attendee must sign in and receive a sticker to wear. The board attendance sheet will also be in the front office and must be signed prior to entrance into the main building. All BoE public speaking cards will also be in the front office.

Dear Families and Staff:
As you may have heard on the news, yesterday a number of law enforcement agencies across the state and nation received anonymous “swatting” calls referencing active shooter situations in schools. We have been advised by law enforcement that these types of calls are not credible and are designed to trigger the dispatch of emergency services to a particular address as a hoax. The Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS) is collaborating with the Iowa Department of Education (DOE) and communicating with school districts regarding swatting calls directed at Iowa schools.
While our district did not receive such a call, the purpose of this message is to let you know that we are prepared if we do. Our first priority is (and will always be) to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Thus, any and all threats will be taken seriously and may result in the mobilization of our safety procedures (including lockdown) out of an abundance of caution. Please know that we will communicate with you as soon as we are able in these situations. Our first priority is always to ensure the safety of those we serve which can result in slight delays in communication.
It’s extremely unfortunate that our local law enforcement partners are dealing with these kinds of calls. Responding creates a great amount of undue stress for everyone, including parents and students, which is why there are serious consequences for those that participate in this type of criminal behavior.

The JJV game scheduled with Osage on (1/15) in Belmond has been cancelled.
JV/ Var. basketball games at Clarion on (1/15) and JH girls basketball against Eagle Grove at Belmond on (1/15) have ben postponed. A new date for both games will be announced at a later time.
Basketball games against Bishop Garrigan on 1/13 have been postponed. A new date is TBD.
The B-K Choir is excited for their new choir robes! Come to the Pops Concert on February 22nd to see them in person!
Winter Sports Coronation and Dance have been postponed to a later date due to incoming weather, plummeting temperatures, and student safety.
*Varsity G/B games with Lake Mills have changed from tomorrow, to tonight (1/11) in Belmond. Varsity girls will start at 5:15 pm, varsity boys to follow.

As tomorrow's forecast has now moved to a status of blizzard conditions which means the visibility will be 1/4 mile or less, wind gusts will be 35 mph or greater and conditions will last 3 hours or longer, the BKCSD will be canceled for tomorrow, Friday, January 12, 2024.

The B/G quad basketball games scheduled for (1/9) has been postponed to Saturday (1/13) in Belmond.
