October is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s a great time to pause and reflect on the importance of caring for ourselves and our families. I want to remind you that we have a Student Assistance Program that your child can access. If your child would benefit from short-term counseling, this service can be accessed free of charge. Visit efr.org or call (800) 327-4692 for more information.
Just as we take vitamins to support our physical health, it’s important to ask ourselves: What am I doing to support my mental health? For me, it’s cranking up 80’s music or Broadway show tunes and singing at the top of my lungs—it’s my way of letting go of stress. For you, it might be meditation, prayer, cooking, baking, walking, taking a long drive, or laughing until your sides hurt with friends or family.
Whatever it looks like for you, take time this month to do something that helps you recharge and nurture your mental well-being.
Best Wishes,
Jenn

We had the first meeting to start the process of strategic planning last week. We had about 20 people participating in the process. The 20 were a mix of staff, community members, parents, and students. We started by talking about what BK does well. Why would we encourage someone to send their child to us for their education? Some of the key strengths were a caring staff, a safe and supportive environment, and providing opportunities. Next we talked about what we envision for our students 10 years from now. Some of the key visions were being a problem solver, feeling valued, and a compassionate citizen. The facilitators will take the information we compiled from that and pick out the highlights and give suggestions for a mission and vision statement. The administrative team will use this to prepare an example for feedback from all of you and the community.
We ended the night talking about what we would need our "big rocks" to be to move us from our mission to our vision. There are so many things we could spend time trying to improve, but what will really make the difference for our students. Some of the "big rocks" that seemed to get the most attention was student achievement for ALL students, staff attraction and retention, and attendance.
I will continue to update all of you as we move forward. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have!

This year, our students are “astronauts” on an exciting reading journey. They have launched into many favorite books, exploring new stories and ideas, and are eager to share their discoveries with others. Together, we’re reaching new heights in reading!

Please remember that part of the agreement for receiving a free activity pass for elementary students was that they would not attend events without an accompanying adult. Recently, we have had many elementary students at football games without parent supervision, and this has led to disruptions during the games.
Our next home Varsity football game is Friday, October 10. Moving forward, elementary students who are unaccompanied and causing problems will be removed from the game.

October is Principal Appreciation Month!
We are incredibly grateful for the leadership, dedication, and heart our principals bring to our schools every day. Whether it's guiding students, supporting staff, or fostering a positive school culture, your impact is felt in every hallway and classroom. Thank you to our Elementary Principal, Mrs. Offerman and our Jr/Sr High School Principal, Ms. Jensen, for all you do to make our schools thrive!

Hopefully all of you are becoming more familiar with our communication through ParentSquare. We have added a Community Group for anyone who is a Bronco fan but no longer have students in the district. If you have a grandparent, older sibling, or an interested member of the community, share this link with them. You do not need to join this group if you are a parent or staff member.
