IHSSA (Iowa High School Speech Association) or Speech is a fun and rewarding activity that helps students build confidence, creativity, and strong communication skills. Through participation in speech events, students have the opportunity to express themselves, work with others, and try new things in a supportive environment.

Students can take part in a variety of events, including acting, one act plays, public speaking, poetry, and even musical theatre. Throughout the season, they attend contests where they showcase their work and receive ratings and feedback from judges.

While achievements like high ratings and All-State recognition are exciting, the greatest value of speech is the personal growth students experience. They develop teamwork, self-confidence, and communication skills that will benefit them long after high school.
