BELMOND-KLEMME SCHOOLS INTO LOCK-OUT
BELMOND, Iowa—At approximately 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday afternoon, April 12, 2023, the Wright County Sheriff’s Department advised Belmond-Klemme Schools to go into a Lock-out. A suspect was fleeing the authorities in the immediate area of Belmond-Klemme Schools.
The schools were placed into a Lock-out out of an abundance of caution. At no time was there an imminent threat to the school or anyone in or near it.
Belmond-Klemme Schools went into a Lock-out immediately upon the guidance of the Sheriff’s Department. A Lock-out is an emergency procedure where all school doors are locked and no one is allowed to enter or leave the school until the Lock-out is lifted. Internally, schools operate normally while under a Lock-out.
The suspect was quickly apprehended by Wright County Deputies. Belmond-Klemme Schools were in Lock-out for less than 15 minutes.
Belmond-Klemme Schools is grateful to local law enforcement for the protection they provide.

The soccer game scheduled for today (3/31) with Aplington-Parkersburg has been postponed until 4/18. The game will be played in Aplington starting at 7:00 pm.
The game start time for the soccer games in Hampton today (3/30) have been changed to 5:00 pm for girls and boys to follow

Belmond-Klemme school buses will run on hard-surfaced roads only starting tomorrow morning, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, and continuing likely through the end of this week. Gravel roads are extremely soft, and our buses are destroying the roads. #BKBroncos
