This week we will be focusing on food in the classrooms. Students, teacher, paras, and Ms. Jensen will all be looking at and ensuring that we know and follow our food in the classroom policies as we have quite a bit of new flooring. According to our Student Handbook, there are several policies that relate to acceptable hallway behavior. These include:
Food & Drink
The Student Center is where you may eat and drink in the morning prior to the school day. However, at no time during the school day, can soda or energy drinks be consumed anywhere in the building without the principal or her designee's approval. Students are expected to keep this area clean. Food and drink, with the exception of water, are not to be taken into classrooms unless pre-approved by the teacher.
The only approved drink outside of the Student Center is water in a clear plastic water bottle. Any other drink seen in the hallways will be confiscated and thrown away. At no time will food or drink be brought into computer labs, the LMC, hallways, or the auditorium. In order to maintain this privilege, you must show good care of the school environment by disposing of wrappers, bottles, etc. in waste cans and recycling bins.
Wristbands for All-State Speech Contest located in Ames on Saturday are on sale in the front office for $8. Wristbands will also be for sale at the contest, but will be more expensive.
Tuesday February 15

On Wednesday, the Student Council will be handing out apple slices to remind you that a healthy diet strengthens your heart. You will also be able to purchase a sticker from the PTO for $1 that will allow you to wear a hat all day. You must have the sticker visible at all times, or will be asked to remove your hat. Don’t forget to vote for the teacher that you want to get a pie in the face, by putting money in their bucket.

Students, a reminder that the snack shack is only open before and after school. It is always closed during lunch from 11:30-1:00 as it is against federal policy as part of the federal lunch program.
Wednesday February 16
Lunch: Pizza (topping TBD), steamed broccoli, orange wedges, milk
On Thursday, you will be able to purchase a sticker from the PTO for $1 that will allow you to wear sunglasses all day. Again, you will have to have the sticker visible all day or you will be asked to remove the sunglasses. On Friday, in honor of American Heart Week, please wear RED tomorrow. Don’t forget to vote for the teacher that you want to get a pie in the face, by putting money in their bucket. We will be doing the pie in the face tomorrow between lunches. Thanks for your support.
